Vodafone And Yahoo Partner On Instant Messaging In Europe

Vodafone and Yahoo will develope a cobranded instant messaging application that will work on both PCs and mobiles, allowing users to send messages from mobile to PC and vice versa as well as use the address book to see when their friends are online. It?s not explicitly stated which countries this will start in?the headline specifies ?Europe?. This comes after other deals between the two companies, such as for mobile advertising.

Yahoo is using 3GSM to schmooze operators, according to IDGNS. ?Schmoozing? is a suggestive word, but it is true that Yahoo (along with other online brands) are keen to stake their claim in the mobile world. The article notes the gamma release of Yahoo Go for Mobile 2.0, as well as the companies recent deal with LG Electronics for Yahoo Go for Mobile 2.0, Yahoo Mail, and Yahoo Messenger.
