Odiogo Launches Web 2.0 Application

Feb 05 2007 /--Mobile Game Developer

Odiogo has announced the launch of a Web 2.0 application designed to enable text content providers to create new audio media. Blog entries are converted on the fly into high fidelity voice files ready to play on MP3 players, PDAs, phones, or laptop computers.

Odiogo is designed to allow end-users to access blogs and news on the go, at the gym, in the car, or on the subway. They gain access to content they previously could only get by reading a computer screen. Odiogo extracts blog posts or articles from member news sites and converts them to lightweight MP3 files in seconds. The files can be loaded to any mobile device, giving users access to web content. Odiogo monitors its content partners' feeds and automatically creates for each news item small audio files using text-to-speech technology. This artificial intelligence technology observes punctuation and more natural speech patterns to provide a high fidelity listening experience. The service is run from Odiogo's data center, where the MP3 files are stored, and later downloaded to iPods and other mobile devices, free of charge.

Consumers subscribe to the audio enriched news feed by clicking a button displayed on the Content Provider's site. Updated news items and blog entries are automatically loaded each time the user's iPod/MP3 player is synchronized. Bloggers can join the service for free. The integration is done as all blog platforms support the RSS standard.
