Norwegian provider Hello AS launches seamless WiFi/cellular service

You might not spend a lot of time being jealous of Norway, but after you hear about the mobile service that is available in the country you might want to start.

Norwegian phone provider Hello AS has become one of the first providers in the world to offer a converged Wi-Fi and cellular voice service. For now, customers who want to take advantage of it will have to use a QTek phone from HTC which runs Windows Mobile and supports voice over Wi-Fi and cellular networks. With that handset, users will be able to switch between the two networks seamlessly without losing their calls. That means that you can cut your cellular bill noticeably by using Wi-Fi for voice when it is available. The service will have least-cost routing to determine which network will provide you with the lowest cost call in a particular circumstance.

Hello AS isn?t the first company to trial this type of offering, but few companies have moved into the launch stage as of yet.
