Indian telco Reliance Communications is aiming to distribute mobile content to other service providers across the globe, reports Business Standard. Reliance will target immigrant Asians in countries such as the US, UK, Canada, Middle East, Singapore and Malaysia?the article claims there is an estimated 1 billion ethnic Asians in these countries, but the total population of the countries mentioned is only around 613 million?
?The telephony major intends to offer ringtones, music, devotional songs, wallpapers of blockbuster and classic movies, games, caller ring back tones (CRBTs) and movie clip downloads among others.? A deal has already be signed with Canadian telco Telus, which will see the two companies ?jointly set up a mobile content portal ?Apna Des?, on which around 200 applications have already been hosted?. Other telcos the company is suggested to be in talks with (but won?t confirm) are ?T-Mobile and AT&T in US, Vodafone and Orange in UK, Singapore Telecom Mobile in Singapore and Telekom Malaysia in Malaysia?.
