IF YOU are tired of playing the same old Java games on your mobile phone, you might want to check out MaxGames, a new service from Maxis Communications Bhd.

Touted as the first subscription-based mobile games and community portal in Malaysia, MaxGames offers a variety of services, such as tournament games, multiplayer games, clubs, blogs and a virtual gift shop.

MaxGames runs on FunlogiX, a platform developed by mobile games developer and publisher Ozura Sdn Bhd.

There are currently five games in its first batch of tournament games ? Puteri Gunung Ledang, Pontianak, Badang, Mahsuri and Naga Tasik Chini under the ?Dongeng Series? theme.

The tournament games are targeted at casual gamers as it represents the largest group of mobile gamers, said the company.

A multiplayer game by Ozura called The Duel Online will also be added soon, it said, while five more multiplayer games are in line for release.
