Climate:Mobile, a mobile phone application that calculates your carbon footprint, has been launched by The C-Change Project.
The application is supported by the project's backers the Woodcraft Folk, and The Centre for Alternative Technology.
Climate:Mobile is aimed towards young people, and will be promoted heavily throughout this weekend's Glastonbury Festival, where the organisers are encouraging each festival-goer to reduce their carbon emissions.
The application asks users questions based on lifestyle choices to do with home, transport, flights, food and general living, with a result calculated on chosen answers.
"94% of 16-24-year-olds own a mobile phone which is central to most young people's lifestyles. The Climate:Mobile calculator is a fun and simple solution to help young people work out how much carbon they are putting in to the atmosphere," said Elle Dodd, C-Change Project Volunteer.
"Climate change is already happening - today's climate is tomorrow's challenge. The Climate:Mobile is one way in which young people can make a real difference in taking personal action to reduce their carbon footprint."
Climate:Mobile is available by texting CLIMATE to 80010, at standard network fees.
