Blizzard Planning Move Into Mobile

Games company Blizzard, which dominated the MMORPG segment when it launched World of Warcraft, is planning a move into the mobile space. The company is hiring for mobile positions, reports QJ.net, including Mobile Producer ("with outstanding communication abilities to manage the process of bringing Blizzard-IP-related functions into the mobile space...experience working within the mobile development space is mandatory") as well as a Lead Mobile Software Designer and a Lead Mobile UI Designer. There?s no indication of how the company plans to move into mobile, whether it will extend mobile capabilities to its WoW franchise or launch new games. I think it should do both?WoW users will almost certainly have mobile phones and would use an application on the phone, probably even paying for it. But to get to the mass-market Blizzard can?t tie itself to its current users.
