Airplay, a developer of premium games for mobile phones, has launched NBA AirPlay Live, a new fantasy-style game that allows fans to connect with and compete against players or other friends in real time during NBA game using mobile phone.
The real-time interaction fantasy game, which is presented by Toyota, allows basketball fans to strategically choose a five man roster that consists of players from the live NBA game. As the chosen players score, the user gains points, as well, in the game, against other fans via the multiplayer competition.
Morgan Guenther, chairman and CEO of AirPlay, said he believes the new service will break new ground in interactive wireless gaming.
?NBA AirPlay Live offers fans the ultimate in-game experience with real players, real action, all in real-time,? he said in a press release. ?This new and exciting game continues to break the existing viewing paradigm by merging the live action and intensity on the court, with the connectivity and community of wireless.?
NBA AirPlay Live also allows fans to answer NBA trivia questions and the ability to monitor their scores and their competitor?s score in the Airplay?s community leader board. Fans can also stay connected with each other by hosting virtual parties or take on a competitor head-to-head. NBA fans can also play against NBA players and celebrities. In addition, they get the chance to win weekly sweepstakes or prizes when they compete in tournaments.
Steve Hellmuth, senior vice president of operations and technology for NBA Entertainment, said the new service will provide NBA fans with another means for enjoying NBA games.
?NBA fans are active, wired and always looking for new ways to interact with their favorite teams and player,? he said. ?NBA AirPlay Live will deliver a unique experience that will allow our fans to further connect with our live NBA game broadcasts.?
