AT&T Seals Exclusive Content Deal With World Wrestling Entertainment

AT&T has announced an exclusive deal with the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), giving users access to a broad range of mobile service and WWE content via a mobile portal. The content on offer will include an exclusive collection of WWE-themed videos, ringtones, voice tones and graphics. It?s interesting to see an exclusive content deal at a time when most content companies are going for reach and recruiting as many operator partners as possible (or skipping the lot to go D2C). Shane McMahon, WWE?s executive vice president, Global Media, said in a statement: ?In order to create the ideal fan-centric mobile experience, it was necessary to work exclusively with one partner??

WWE claims a TV audience of 15 million viewers per week. The WWE Mobile portal puts the emphasis on video content, and will offer a basic package of short-form videos each month, as well as a premium package.

Reuters: The service will launch today with some World Wrestling videos will be available as part of the $19.99 a month media service plan. A premium video package - featuring highlights from WrestleMania and other shows - for $4.99 a month.
